Arsenal have completed the signing of goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez from Real Madrid, with the 27-year-old joining the Women’s Super League club after her departure from the Spanish giants at the end of last season.
Rodriguez, who will wear the number 16 shirt, spent six years at Real Madrid, making 215 appearances — a club record — and was named captain last year. The Spanish international helped Real Madrid reach the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League last season and has earned 34 caps for Spain since her senior debut in 2021, including three appearances as her country won the 2023 Women’s World Cup. She has since lost her starting role with the national team to Barcelona’s Cata Coll.
At Arsenal, Rodriguez will compete for the goalkeeping spot with Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe, both of whom struggled with injuries last season. “I’m so proud to join this great club. Arsenal is one of the top clubs in the world and I’m really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge,” said Rodriguez. “I want to help us compete for trophies and make more history, together with our supporters.”
The signing is part of a busy transfer window for Arsenal as they build their squad for the 2026-27 Women’s Super League season. Georgia Stanway, Ona Batlle, Selina Cerci, Geraldine Reuteler and Lisa Baum have all reinforced Renee Slegers’ side ahead of the new campaign.
Arsenal finished second in the WSL last season and reached the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League, underlining the ambition behind their summer recruitment drive.
