Rangers manager Derek McInnes has confirmed the club have turned down a bid for striker Youssef Chermiti, with Turkish champions Galatasaray reported to be the interested party. McInnes told BBC Scotland the offer fell short of what Rangers value the 22-year-old at, and made clear the club have no intention of selling.
“I’m led to believe the club’s valuation of the player hasn’t been met,” McInnes said. “So, from our point of view, like everything else, when you get clubs looking at your players, it’s business as you were.” The Portuguese under-21 international joined Rangers from Everton in September 2025 and reportedly became the club’s most expensive signing since Tore Andre Flo in 2000.
Chermiti has made 43 appearances for Rangers, starting 30 of them and scoring 15 goals. He came off injured after starting Saturday’s home match against Hibernian, though McInnes remained firm on his importance to the squad. “It’s no surprise that he’s a player who’s got a big tag on him and he’s got high potential, but thankfully he’s our player and that will continue to be the case,” the manager said.
McInnes, who arrived from Heart of Midlothian, has already overseen nine signings this summer and is pushing to bring in further reinforcements. “We’ve got a few bids in for several players and a few things are ongoing at the minute,” he said, adding that he hopes news on potential arrivals will come within the next few days.
The Rangers boss stressed that offloading Chermiti is not part of the club’s plans as they continue to build their squad. “We’re trying to build a team here at the minute and we’re trying to still bring additions to the team that helps us add to the good players that we’ve got, including Youssef,” he said. “It’s not something we would encourage at any point.”
